India announces its arsenal for Women’s T20 World Cup

Dubai: Team India has been announced  for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 15 players have been selected in this team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur. Apart from this, the names of 3 traveling reserve and 2 non-traveling reserve players have also been announced.

Smriti Mandhana has been made the vice-captain in the team. While Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh have been included in the team as wicketkeepers. Apart from this, young Shreyanka Patil has also been selected in the spinner department, but she will go with the team only after recovering from injury. Like Shreyanka, Bhatia’s playing will also depend on fitness.

Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Deepti Sharma, Jemima Rodrigues, Yastika Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Dayalan Hemalatha, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Shobhana, Radha Yadav, Sajna Sajeevan.

Traveling Reserve: Tanuja Kanwar, Saima Thakor, Uma Chhetri (wicketkeeper).

Non-Traveling Reserve: Priya Mishra, Raghavi Bist.

The final match will be played in Dubai

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the revised schedule of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup (ICC Womens T20 World Cup 2024) on Monday night. This Kumbh of cricket will start in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 3 October 2024 and the final match will be played on 20 October.

The first semi-final of the tournament will be played on 17 October in Dubai and the second semi-final on 18 October in Sharjah. While the much-awaited mega match between India and Pakistan will be played in Dubai on 6 October.

ICC Womens T20 World Cup 2024: India-Pakistan in the same group

It is worth noting that a total of 10 teams are participating in the Women’s T20 World Cup. All the teams have been divided into two groups A and B. Group A includes teams from India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. While Group B includes teams from Bangladesh, South Africa, England, Scotland and West Indies.

A total of 23 matches will be played during this tournament. Each team will play four group matches and the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. The ICC said that reserve days have been fixed for both the semi-finals and the final. 10 practice matches will be played from September 28 to October 1 before the tournament.
